Recognition of Commitment to Indigenization
Ola Electric Technologies Pvt. Ltd. received the certificate for their Battery Electric Vehicle – 2W, specifically the Ola S1 Pro (Gen2), meeting the criteria set by ICAT for the Automotive PLI certificate. This recognition underscores their dedication to indigenizing advanced automotive technology products and aligning with the ‘Make in Bharat’ initiative to strengthen domestic production.

Government Initiatives Driving Innovation
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government introduced the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020 to promote Green Mobility. In line with the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) launched the PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry in 2021, with a substantial budgetary outlay aimed at boosting local production of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products and attracting investments in the automotive manufacturing value chain.

Streamlined Application Process and Future Prospects
The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by MHI in April 2023 facilitated a smooth application process for eligible applicants, including Champion OEMs and Component Champions. ICAT is currently evaluating and assessing PLI-Auto applications from other companies, indicating that more entities will soon receive PLI-Auto Certificates from ICAT, Manesar.
This milestone achievement not only reflects the progress made in localizing advanced automotive technology production but also signifies a step forward in incentivizing investments within India’s automotive sector.
